How can nothing be something? Zero is both a number and a concept, one that means more than empty. It is both the absence of anything and yet contains everything within that void. As an idea that took many centuries to develop it is easy to take zero for granted, and yet it is fundamental to understanding modern mathematics and arguably, ourselves.
